Nicole finally admits she is pregnant

Soon-to-be-jailed celebrity socialite Nicole Richie said she is pregnant by her boyfriend, singer Joel Madden of the rock band Good Charlotte.

"We are. I'm almost four months," said Richie, 25, in an interview with Diane Sawyer that will air on America's ABC on Thursday.

The waif-like daughter of singer Lionel Richie pleaded guilty last week to driving under the influence of drugs and was sentenced to four days in jail. She has been ordered to serve her time by September 28 and put on three years probation.

"I have a responsibility and it's something that I did wrong, and if I could personally apologize to every single person that has lost a loved one from drunk driving I would," Richie said.

"Unfortunately I can't, but this is my way of paying my dues and taking responsibility and being an adult."

Richie rose to fame as hotel heiress Paris Hilton's co-star on the reality series The Simple Life. Hilton spent three weeks behind bars in June for violating her probation in a drunken-driving case.

Richie was stopped in December when police said she was seen driving the wrong way on a Los Angeles freeway. Officers said she failed a field sobriety test and admitted she had smoked marijuana and taken prescription painkiller Vicodin.

Because of a 2003 DUI conviction, Richie had faced a mandatory sentence of up to a year in jail if found guilty in a trial but instead submitted her plea.

Mary-Kate Olsen takes a break on a Hollywood set on Friday after shooting scenes for Showtime’s hit show Weeds.

Mary-Kate plays Silas’ (played by Hunter Parrish) new leading lady, girl-next-door Tara Lindman. She says she plays “a good Christian girl,” whose wardrobe will always include a cross, but she still gets high on a little herb.

Next week, however, the Simple Life star will finally come out of hiding for an interview with Diane Sawyer. In three segments set to air August 2nd on Good Morning America and August 3rd on Good Morning America and 20/20, Sawyer will finally have the opportunity to ask Richie on our behalf, "What is going on with you?!"

The interview will mark something of a mini-comeback for the usually media-saturated Richie. On tour recently with boyfriend Joel Madden's band, Good Charlotte, she has kept a low-profile, eating at less-than-glamorous locations like a Chili's in upstate New York, and slouching in her car outside suburban malls where her man was performing to avoid being seen.

Some topics that we hope Sawyer will cover? Richie's August 16 court date for her December 2006 DUI arrest, where, as a repeat offender, she could face 90 days to one year in jail. And of course, that growing baby bump of hers remains uncommented on by Richie or Madden. Could it be time to announce the happy news?

Previous celebs who have memorably opened up to Sawyer include the then married Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley, Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, Tom Cruise and The Dixie Chicks.

Paris caught out

Just a month after telling US talk show host Larry King that she's never done drugs, Paris Hilton has been spotted openly smoking marijuana at a West Hollywood nightclub.

Hilton and Mischa Barton's ex-boyfriend Cisco Adler were seen smoking joints together at Guy's nightclub in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, according to UsMagazine.

Wearing skinny jeans, a black tank and a sequined top, the 26-year-old even took the stage to sing karaoke versions of "Bette Davis Eyes" and her own single "The Stars are Blind".

After musician Adler performed "Brown Eyed Girl", he reportedly met Hilton on the dance floor where they were seen making out and smoking suspiciously fragrant rolled cigarettes.

The pair cuddled and shared cocktails before leaving the club at 2.30am in different cars.

It's not the first time Hilton has been witnessed smoking marijuana — in fact, there are photos and videos of it.

Was Lindsay framed?

Lindsay Lohan is proclaiming her innocence after being arrested yesterday for an investigation of driving under the influence and felony cocaine possession. "I am innocent, I did not do drugs, they‘re not mine. I was almost hit by my assistant Tarin‘s mom so I appreciate everyone giving me my privacy," Lohan wrote in an e-mail to "Access Hollywood" host Billy Bush, the show reported on its Web site Tuesday night.

Police found cocaine in one of the actress‘ pockets during a pre-booking search, Sgt. Shane Talbot said. Police initially said Lohan was also being booked for investigation of transporting a narcotic but later said she was not.

Authorities found Lohan and the woman in a "heated debate" in the parking lot of Santa Monica‘s Civic Auditorium at about 1:30 a.m.

Lohan had worn an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet since her July 13 release from rehab and was tested daily to support her sobriety, her attorney Blair Berk said. She said Lohan had relapsed and was receiving medical care at an undisclosed location. Her publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, had no comment.

Kate Moss Fears Sex Tape Leak

Because filming every waking moment with your pasty, crackhead boyfriend, including even the most intimate of occasions, always seems like a good idea at the time, I can't really blame Kate Moss for documenting her sexual encounters with Pete Doherty. Except that I can, because I'm being sarcastic. The British model is reportedly sweating bullets because she's only managed to get her hands on six out of eight videotapes that the two made together during their tumultuous relationship and now Kate's worried Pete might sell the two that are missing.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "There are still some bits and pieces floating about of Pete with Kate. She has got rid of most of it. Six out of eight tapes have been destroyed. But she wanted to bury the lot before he could humiliate her by selling them or putting them on the internet."

Models under 16 years old will be banned from London Fashion Week catwalks under new rules proposed Wednesday.

A panel of experts set up to investigate health problems among models also called for greater protection for 17 and 18 year-olds, including chaperoning at shows.

But the independent Model Health Inquiry, set up after an outcry over the rise of the size zero model, ruled out weighing all models because it had been ineffective in other countries.

In the inquiry's interim report Wednesday, panel members called instead for a rigorous scientific study into the prevalence of eating disorders among fashion models. They had heard evidence that around 40 percent of models could have anorexia, bulimia or other food-related problems.

Baroness Kingsmill, the panel chairwoman, said that the inquiry heard from many models who described the fear of not being selected for work because they were not thin enough.

“We have been given startling medical evidence about the prevalence and impact of eating disorders in certain high-risk industries," said Baroness Kingsmill.

The inquiry said it wanted more information on whether a minimum body mass index (BMI) requirement of 18.5 should be introduced for London Fashion Week models. This approach has already been adopted by Madrid fashion week.

The College of Psychiatrists told the panel that models with a BMI of below 18.5 — which means they are underweight — should be banned from the catwalk.

But other respondents warned that simply recording a model's BMI did not help to identify the eating disorder bulimia nervosa, whose sufferers alternately binge and vomit to control their mood.

The panel called on the British Fashion Council, which owns and runs London Fashion Week, to develop new best-practice standards for model agencies.

Agencies should arrange medical checks, including screening for eating disorders, when they first put a model on their books. This should be followed by annual check-ups, the panel said.

It called for a detailed investigation into models' working conditions, and outlined a positive case for setting up a union for the modeling profession.

It warned that models under 16 were particularly vulnerable in a profession that might ask them to model revealing clothes in sexualized poses. There was a risk of children being sexually exploited when they were made to represent adult women, the report said.

Launching the interim report Wednesday, Baroness Kingsmill said: “The panel has set out an approach designed to protect vulnerable young workers in an industry which appears to be glamorous but which has hidden risks and that for all practical purposes is largely unregulated and unmonitored.

“During our investigations members of the panel became increasingly concerned as we heard more details about the working conditions faced by many models, and the vulnerability of young women working in an unregulated and scarcely-monitored work environment.

“There was also strongly expressed concern that it is profoundly inappropriate that girls under 16 under the age of consent should be portrayed as adult women. The risk of sexualizing these children was high, and designers could risk charges of sexual exploitation."

The inquiry is requesting responses to its interim report. Its final report, along with a final set of recommendations is due to be published in September, when the next London Fashion Week takes place.

The probe was launched by the British Fashion Council seven weeks ago after controversy over the number of models aspiring to the U.S. size zero — the equivalent of a UK size four. The trend appears to have begun with celebrities such as Nicole Richie dieting down to the super-thin size.

In August 2006, Uruguayan model Luisel Ramos, 22, died of heart failure after not eating for several days. Her death was followed in November by that of Ana Carolina Reston, a Brazilian model who suffered from anorexia.

Madrid Fashion Week last year banned models with a BMI of less than 18 from taking part. Doctors use the index, which is a ratio of height to weight, to calculate the healthy size for an individual.

During its last London Fashion Week in February, the British Fashion Council asked designers to use only “healthy looking” models aged 16 and over. But it fell short of banning stick-thin girls from the catwalk.

The members of the Model Health Inquiry panel include the fashion designers Betty Jackson and Giles Deacon, and Erin O’Connor, a model.

Also on board are Sarah Doukas, the founder of Storm Model Management; Charlotte Clark, the co-director of INCA Productions; Paula Reed, the style director of Grazia magazine; Professor Wendy Dagworthy, the head of the School of Fashion and Textiles at the Royal College of Art; and Dr Adrienne Key, a consultant psychiatrist and eating disorders expert.

Therapy?

With pre-reunion tour catty bitching in full-effect, Virgin Records has snagged a therapist to go on the road with Posh, Scary, and the rest of the nineties girl group. “The Spice Girls will be accompanied by a therapist for the duration of their reunion tour. Executives at record label Virgin are concerned that catty arguments between the singers could result in one of them deciding to ditch the tour. The therapist will act as a mediator between the girls, should the worst happen. Such as, Eddie Murphy impregnating Victoria Beckham,” says a snitch.

Sex & the City Movie

The long-awaited Sex & the City movie has been green-lighted and will start shooting this autumn. Actress Kim Cattrall, who stalled and then axed plans to make the project in 2005 over salary issues, has reportedly agreed to make the one-off film, which follows the four leading lady characters from the hit TV series. Her new deal includes a better salary and a future series deal with U.S. cable channel HBO, according to trade magazine Daily Variety. HBO aired the original Sex and the City series and the cable channel will also back the movie. The Sex and the City film will be directed by the series' longtime director Michael Patrick King, based on a new script he wrote. The project will reunite the TV show's stars, Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. There are no other casting details available. Sex and the City was a ratings winner and critical success during its TV run between 1998 and 2004, when the last episode aired.

Fresh out of jail and totally over her Hawaiian getaway, former felon Paris Hilton has finally moved into the $2.9 million beachhouse she will call home for the rest of the summer.

The waterfront estate is approximately 2,250 square feet, has two-bedroom and three bathrooms.

Still no sign as yet of the humanitarian work she claimed to be keen to do following her release from jail.

After several weeks of Nicole Richie hiding her stomach from photographers, the is-she-or-isn’t-she-rumors can be put to rest: Us has confirmed via multiple sources that Richie is more than 12 weeks pregnant with her and boyfriend Joel Madden’s first child. “She is extremely excited right now,” a source close to the star tells Us. Richie, 25, shared the good news with her mom Brenda, and close friends like Mischa Barton, in early May, adds the Richie pal, after a pregnancy test came up positive.

And the pregnancy isn’t the only cause for celebration. A source says Madden, 28, along with a few friends and his twin brother Benji, recently went shopping for an engagement ring. And the twins’ older brother Josh Madden tells Us, “Nicole is awesome. But Nicole can’t hide her bump forever. The Simple Life star is due in court on July 11 to answer DUI charges stemming from her December 2006 arrest. The fiery love affair between Kate Moss and her musician boyfriend Pete Doherty looks to have come to an abrupt end as a removal van arrived at Kate's north London home to remove Pete's belongings.

A removal man from firm TaxiVans was seen coming out of the supermodel's home carrying artwork, and a couple of Pete's treasured guitars. Vintage suitcases could be seen in the back of the van, along with an accordion, and guitar cases

Earlier today Doherty protested that it wasn't Kate who dumped him, but rather it was he who was fed up with the supermodel suffocating him and told her: "I need my space."

The couple have had a series of screaming rows last week over his cheating, and according to reports he even went so far as to say to her: "It's like living with a f**king stalker."
The model, 33, has reportedly told the 28-year-old singer that she can't live with him because of his cheating - but she can't live without him either.

And Kate is said to have issued Pete with a series of conditions but he is not prepared to accept them.

Jefferson Hack, father of Kate's daughter Lila Grace, is worried about the model's state of mind during this emotional time.

He has stepped in to help look after the four-year-old while Moss sorts out her relationship with Doherty.

The Babyshambles singer unwittingly confirmed the pair had gone their separate ways when he appeared in court yesterday on drugs charges.

Is Kate moving on?

In what is only the latest edition in the Kate Moss and Pete Doherty soap opera, it appears the British supermodel has changed the locks at her north London home following news he cheated on her with a South African model.

The 33-year-old beauty has clearly lost patience with her chaotic boyfriend, as a shiny new lock has been fitted to the heavy duty metal gate on her plush home.

Could this mean it’s finally over? All signs point toward YES!

Earlier today in court (where Pete was facing a series of drug changes), when asked to give his address, he started giving girlfriend Kate’s St John’s Wood address but stopped mid-sentence and said “actually that’s changed”. His lawyer later interjected to give the court an alternative address.

Nicole; engaged & pregnant?

She's been avoiding questions and rumors for weeks, but recently Nicole Richie started to confess to friends that she really is pregnant. "Nicole didn't want to tell anyone until she was past three months," a pal explains. "She really kept the news from everyone."

And a baby isn't the only happy news. Nicole, 25, "is getting married this summer" to her boyfriend, Joel Madden, says an insider.

Joel, 28, who fronts the band Good Charlotte, seems excited about starting a new life with Nicole, too. "He kept talking about his fiancée," Guttermouth guitarist Donald Horne, whose band played with Joel's in Quebec on June 29, tells In Touch. Joel also spoke about leaving LA, adds Donald. "He was talking about looking to settle down someplace nice and start a family," he says.
